What is Fascia?

Fascia is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber and muscle in place. Fascia contains strong sensory nerves that detect changes of tension to protect you from injury.

What are the fascial lines?

The fascial lines help create synergy among different muscles which aids in the production of functional movements. There are 12 fascial chains that separate and connect from each other comprised of: superficial to deep, to front and back, lateral and spiral. They encase muscles/muscle fibers to support movement and detect strain on their respective lines of pull.

What is Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST)?

FST is a series of assisted stretch techniques designed to stabilize and mobilize muscles and joint capsule to improve flexibility and range of motion. The stretching and traction techniques are rhythmic, synchronized with breathing to down-regulate the body and achieve a maximized stretch to aid in recovery. During the stretch — the practitioner will identify areas of restriction and asymmetries.

What are the benefits of FST?

- improve muscle function
- promote circulation
- encourage muscle recovery + repair
- prevent injury
- improve flexibility, posture, and symmetry
- decrease joint compression and improve range of motion
